"Since I began my short life as a photographer, I have always tried to imitate painting, not photography, without resorting to any particular technique, other than waiting for the light to come through the windows. My only task has been to wait for the exact moment, which varies according to the season and is sometimes a matter of minutes."

Pedro Almodovar

THE EXHIBITION

After David Lynch in 2018, the Fellini Foundation has invited another sacred monster of cinema to present his works in Sion as part of the Centenary of Fellini's birth, which continues until 2021 according to the decision of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The Fellini Foundation is a partner of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Centenary of Fellini's birth and has received the Special Medal of the President of the Italian Republic for the events of this jubilee.

Pedro Almodovar is considered today as the greatest director that Spain has known in recent decades. A filmmaker with a baroque and colorful aesthetic, author of emblematic masterpieces such as Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988) or High Heels (1991) during the Movida - that period of freedom and creativity after Franco's reign -, Pedro Almodovar has not stopped directing for 40 years a diverse Spain in search of its social and political identity.

In recent years, the Spanish filmmaker with multiple international awards has also devoted himself to other artistic forms such as photography and painting. For this exhibition, Pedro Almodovar presents, for the first time in Switzerland, a selection of his original photographic works gathered for two artistic projects: Vida Detenida and Waiting the Light.
