Presentation and practical workshop of innovations in cinema to better understand today's special effects.
The Devil's House offers you as an activity a presentation on the theme of special effects in cinema: this one will progressively advance in time by tackling the appearance, and the use in the history of cinema, of tricks and special effects to finally present the techniques and technologies of our current films. The techniques presented during the presentation will be illustrated as much with excerpts from silent black and white films from the beginning of the 20th century as with those from films produced after the 2000s, as well as with different images or photos taken on film shoots.
After this theoretical part, we propose a practical workshop on a green background where the students will be able to better realize the functioning, the quantity of material, the similarities and/or differences between the special effects of yesterday and today.
Thanks to this activity, students will be able to make links between the different trades needed to create the special effects/tricks of a film and the different branches taught in their school: both those related to the plastic arts and those in the scientific fields.
